Forgotten Objects

Disclaimer: This poem is specifically regarding catcalling and is in no means about anyone but those who cat call and make women – or any one – feel uncomfortable and worthless. It is however, from a woman’s point of view as that is what I can truly attest to best.

Faces
Expressionless
Hearts
Unguarded
Feelings
Unimportant
Passions
Forgotten
Dreams
Broken
Hope
Lost

Is this what they want?
Is this what they see?

A woman
No, sorry
An object
With a large chest
A firm behind
And a tiny waist
Long hair or short
Made up or not
Must be dressed for men, right?

Doesn’t matter who she is,
Like a corpse
Nothing but her physicality is seen
Her personality doesn’t matter
Her dreams don’t matter
Her passions don’t exist

She’s just an object
To be viewed.
Judged.
Used.

And then,
Even her physicality,
Forgotten.
